From the 1960s for around 50 years this 45-acre cemetery was allowed to fall into serious disrepair. Whilst brambles and ivy took root on the ground, sycamore and ash saplings were allowed to grow densely often taking root in graves. Families are responsible for the maintenance of the grave itself, however there may be many reasons why it is not possible to do this and so Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust offers a Grave Tidy Service.
A grave tidy includes providing an access route to the grave, clearing the grave and keeping it tidy. Our Estate Manager will view the grave and provide a quotation and suggest the best clearance method, ensuring that the work is carried out without damage to the grave and without harm to the wildlife.
Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust Landscape Management Plan sets out our policy on ivy removal and clearance in rotation round the site to protect the wildlife and rare breeds of insects, wild flowers and plants which have also made Arnos Vale their home over the years.
Our grave tidy contracts are for 12 months and we offer two different types of packages:

Standard Grave Tidy This provides 6 visits per annum: Post Christmas Tidy January / February Spring Tidy March / April Summer Clearance 4 visits from May to September |
