To win Artist Polly Morgan!
Arnos Vale is shortlisted in the Museums at Night's "Connect 10" competition to host a renowned contemporary artist POLLY MORGAN in a unique night time event for FREE, on Friday 18th May 2012.
Polly Morgan is an artist and taxidermist whose creations have been collected by Kate Moss and Charles Saatchi and won praise from Damien Hurst.
Arnos Vale want to run Still life meets wild life, an event celebrating the natural world with a meanagerie of people and animals. It would include a demonstration by Polly Morgan of the taxidermist's craft, a display of mourning objects from Bristol Museums, Gallery and Archive service, a visit from some live wild life and a lamplit tour of the cemetery's graves in search of beautiful memorial carvings of wildlife. You won't look at wildlife the same way again. But we need your votes to win! Arnos Vale is competing against Victoria Gallery & Museum, Liverpool, and Yorkshire Museum and Gardens, York, and it is up to the public to vote for their winner! Public Engagement Manager at Arnos Vale, Felicia Smith, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to bring a brilliant artist to a unique event in Bristol. Polly's work shares lots in common with Arnos Vale, with its love of the natural world and engagement with ideas of mortality, remembrance and the fragility of life. We believe we can win this competition and make this a night to remember, but we need your votes to make it happen."
As part of the Museums at Night, Arnos Vale plan to run lamplit Night at the Cemetery Tours on Saturday 19th May and will also be hosting Bioblitz 2012 on the following weekend of 25-26 May.
