August 28, 2016Alfred Utting was the Superintendent of Arnos Vale Cemetery for many years. He managed funerals, looked after the grounds and cared for visitors through his career. He took over the position from his father William Utting.
Alfred married Betty E Edgell in 1941. Betty also worked in the cemetery whilst bringing up two children,
Their son Howard Utting was born and brought up in Arnos Vale Cemetery and still volunteers in the cemetery.
To see them coming in
Alfred died aged 71 and was buried in his beloved Arnos Vale Cemetery. Alfred and Betty’s grave is found on the Ceremonial way under the Leylandii tree by the gates so he could “still see them coming in”.
