January 19, 2023We’re looking for a full time (40 hours a week) Cafe and Hospitality Manager who feels excited by the opportunity to develop our café offer and bar offer for events. You’ll lead and manage the Café ensuring that it is financially profitable. Delivering the strategic direction of the café ensuring it dovetails into the wider organisation.
Arnos Vale is a special place, which people love to visit, a fascinating site, full of memories, history, nature, wellbeing and busy with events. On any day of the week, the site can attract many visitors for several reasons: from those visiting a family grave, to others who want to explore the history of Bristol, or just relax in nature. We carry out a range of commercial activities including weddings, tours, wakes, and film nights. We have a gift shop, venues for hire and a café with outside patio. As a charity, all our income is used to protect and enhance this special place.
The Cafe is open to the public 7 days a week, 10am – 4pm and into the evening and early hours for our weddings and events. You will be a key member of a team that understands and loves Arnos Vale and has a passion for sharing it with a diverse public.
As a historical and environmental based charity, this role is responsible for encouraging positive action about environmental sustainability in the café and beyond.

We’re a small team, so we all help each other out and regularly need to react to changes to ensure that the site operates efficiently and safely. You will manage our café to ensure it runs smoothly and exceeds our visitors’ expectations.
The Role
You’ll inspire, lead, and manage the Café Supervisor and the Café Assistants to provide delicious food and drinks to our visitors. Encouraging repeat visits from the excellent customer service.
You will be responsible for managing the café and bar at our events, occasionally finishing late in the evening. We host between 25-35 weddings and evening events a year. This is a busy role, so you’ll need to be enthusiastic and proactive with a positive approach. You’ll be an excellent communicator and love creating a warm welcome.
Work pattern
You’ll work on a week A/week B rotating rota. During each week there will be approx. 2-3 days of admin and café development related duties. Shift times will be agreed with you in advance.
Week A: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5pm (Saturday and Sunday off)
Week B: Monday – Wednesday, Saturday – Sunday (Thursday and Friday off)
