William Bruce Gingell – Architect



William Gingell was responsible for designing many 19th century industrial and commercial building in Bristol.  In particular, ‘The Granary’ (now a venue and well known fish restaurant), ‘The Old Bank’ and other commercial premises in Corn Street, the Fish market in Baldwin Street, the King David hotel at the bottom of St Michaels Hill and the General Hospital in Lower Guinea Street which is now being converted for accommodation and commercial use.

You will find the little cross on his grave amongst those opposite the Anglican chapel at the cemetery.  Remember him if you pass that way or admire one of his buildings.
