Come join us for the second annual ‘Bats Ball’; a celebration of all things Gothic.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Victorian Mourning’ and while you are encouraged to wear your best goth/punk/Victorian/dark-inspired fashion, it isn’t a necessity. However, there maybe a little something given for the best dressed attendees (it will be discrete, as it’s not a competition).
Early-bird tickets are £15 now sold out but full price are on sale now.
Tickets from September are £20 per person.
The Bats Ball plays host to a gallery of work from local artists with chance to buy their pieces and other little spooky creations, and an event photographer that will capture you at your best.
There will be a choice of either an ‘after-dark’ cemetery tour led by Arnos Vale’s knowledgable tour guides, or a talk in the Spielman centre by Kate Cherrell on Victorian fashion and etiquette, complete with authentic displays.
Following the tours and talks, a gothic “disco” will follow these activities with music being played by Bristol’s finest goth DJ’s – so prepare your requests and strap on your dancing shoes!
We are alss proud to announce Bottlejack and Hastener (Engineers of Modern Wonders and Delightful Distractions) will be available in the crypt throughout the event for the making of studio portraits. A Bellows camera will capture attendees in all their finery, with beautiful sepia-tone images being made available shortly after the event.
B&H have spent many years refining their unique interactive experiences – you may have seen them at festivals, exhibitions, fairs, street parties and cabaret events. Part vintage, part magic, they re-invent the past and make the extraordinary possible with their inexplicable machines.
The event is hosted by Dan Flew MSc, who has studied the bats here at Arnos Vale for over 6 years and is a former grave-digger and lover of all things dark. This year also gains an extra host in the form of Kate Cherrell, a PhD candidate in Gothic literature and specialist in Victorian Spiritualist writing. She studies Victorian fashion for her own enjoyment and, like Dan, is a lover of all things spooky and macabre.
So, if you’re a Goth looking for an evening of Gothic Romance, a cemetery-lover on the search for a special experience or are just very curious about the enjoyment that can be found in the darker side of life, come join us to celebrate the bats of Arnos Vale in true Goth fashion!
There will be a CASH bar in Anglican with bottled beer, wine and cider (please note that no spirits will be available)
There is parking on site. If you would like to reserve a Blue Badge parking space please email firstname.lastname@example.org
We regret that we cannot exchange, refund or transfer tickets unless the event in question has been cancelled or rescheduled by Arnos Vale. If this is the case we will let you know by email.
