Join us for a walk and hear about some of Bristol’s brilliant women. This is followed by a fantastic talk about the Women who built Bristol by author Jane Duffus (separate ticket required).
Arnos Vale Cemetery is the place of remembrance for an estimated 150,000 women and girls from Bristol’s history and this tour aims to tell some of their stories.
The lives of women in times past often elude the historic record. But where historical evidence can be found, the lives they led and the contributions they made to society make for compelling stories. This tour helps set the historic record straight focusing on the interesting, talented, great and good women remembered here from Victorian, Edwardian and 20th century Bristol.
Warm clothing and sensible shoes are strongly recommended.
This tour starts at the East Lodge
We have free parking on site, and cycle racks available. There is an accessible parking space outside each chapel. Further information can be found on our Visiting Arnos Vale page.
Arnos Vale Cemetery is not a fully accessible site. The tour route includes some steps, steep slopes and muddy or uneven paths. Wearing warm clothes and sensible shoes is strongly recommended.
