Focusing on the fundraising rather than the technology, this course gives small to medium-sized charities, arts/heritage organisations the knowledge and confidence to make the most out of digital tools and resources to support their fundraising.

It assumes limited budget, experience or access to expertise but a keen desire to make the most of digital despite that. The emphasis is on practical advice and giving you ideas that will be relevant to your organisation.

This course will give you a thorough understanding of how you can use websites, tools to support and extend your donor base and increase the money you raise.

It will focus on the fundraising rather than the technology, presenting practical advice and giving you ideas that will be relevant to your organisation which you can implement quickly and usually at very low or no cost.

Who should attend:

This course is for all fundraisers who want to gain an understanding or more confidence in this area of fundraising. It often attracts those with a varied mix of fundraising and digital skills/knowledge – including those who are just starting in one of those areas.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

Understand which digital channels to focus your time and limited budget on
Understand the range of channels and tools available
Recognise what approaches are key to all digital channels
Appreciate the role social media can play in your digital fundraising, and what it can’t do for you
Measure more of what you do, and learn from that to improve fundraising
Know where to look for more ongoing advice in this area

Delegates are invited to bring their laptops, tablets or other mobile devices with them and take the opportunity to put their learning into immediate practice, but it’s not essential.

About your Trainer

Howard Lake is a digital fundraising entrepreneur. He has run UK Fundraising (fundraising.co.uk), the world’s first web resource for fundraisers, since 1994, co-founded the social enterprise GoodJobs.org.uk for fundraising recruitment, and runs the unconference series ‘Fundraising Camp’. A Fellow of the Institute of Fundraising and chair of the judging panel for the National Fundraising Awards, he has trained thousands of fundraisers in the using digital tools for fundraising.
