Holding Space film screening and discussion

  • March 3, 2019
    11:30 am - 12:30 pm

We are delighted to be showing the short documentary Holding Space by Rebecca Kenyon, with a discussion facilitated by the Bristol-based organisation DEATH.io.

Holding Space is an intimate, observational documentary about preparing for death, told through the connection between a dying person and their end of life ‘doula’. Structured around a series of conversations, the film finds both poetry and unexpected humour in this most universal of experiences. By witnessing people on the threshold between life and death, the film asks: if you knew that you were dying, how would you prepare to die? The short film has been selected for several film festivals.

The short film is followed by a discussion hosted by DEATH.io. DEATH’s aim is to reduce the fear around having that conversation about what you want to happen when you go. After all, death’s the one thing we all have in common.

DEATH will be joined by Rebecca Kenyon and representatives from End of Life Doula UK. Come along with your questions and discussion points – DEATH wants to make this an accessible and open Q&A, and doulas will be on hand to answer any questions about advance planning.

This event is part of the Life, Death and the Rest 2019 festival. Please note that due to a large booking in the Anglican Chapel, there will be limited parking on site, however parking will be available at HERE Bristol (just 5 mins walk away)

If you’re interested in the event you may like to join us at our monthly Death Cafe’s?
