A new memorial is being unveiled on Saturday. It will mark the last resting place of still born and premature babies buried in unmarked graves in the cemetery between 1950 and 1970.
This monument will be a fitting way to mark the 40th anniversary of Sands. The highly polished stone came from India and is beautifully carved by Bristol and West Memorials.
Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. Sands operates throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research and working closely with many different organisations to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
Bristol Sands is a volunteer-led Group that works to support the charity’s vision aims. They offer support via telephone and email, and through support meetings and events with other bereaved families.
This event is free and all are welcome.
