‘The cemetery is a haven for bird-life, mammals and invertebrates plus wonderful plants. This walk promises a unique aural experience hearing the gorgeous songs of resident and migrant bird species and learning about our other cemetery residents. Our ecologist Mary Wood will share hints and tips on bird and mammal identification and tell you about the unique plant-filled wildlife landscape of Arnos Vale as part of our Life, Death (and the Rest)festival.
This is an all-weather event.
Arnos Vale Cemetery is a designated Site of Nature Conservation Interest. It has been a beauty spot since the Georgian Period and is home to a beautiful array of plants, wildlife and trees. Spring sees the site bursting with colour and variety. This walk will take a in various parts of the 45 acre site from grassland to woodland, from managed land to wild spaces.
Visiting: Arnos Vale Cemetery is not a fully accessible site. The tour route includes some steep slopes, steps, and muddy or uneven paths. Warm clothes and sensible shoes are strongly recommended.
