Winter Tree Tour

Ecologist Mary will take you on a journey around amazing trees that dominate the cemetery. Winter can be a tricky time of year to identify trees, when many native species have shed their autumnal leaves and bare branches stretch to the sky so our guide will help you with identification tricks and tips.

Without the distraction of their leafy crowns it is a fantastic opportunity to take a closer look at the distinctive silhouettes and characteristics that set different tree species apart.

Arnos Vale Cemetery is designated a Site of Nature Conservation Interest so it is a very important place for wildlife.

It has been a beauty spot since the Georgian Period and is home to a beautiful array of plants, wildlife and trees.   This walk will take in various parts of the 45 acre site from grassland to woodland, from managed land to wild spaces. On this seasonal walk with our knowledgeable ecologist, you will discover the art of tree identification using subtle clues in their buds, branches, bark and more.

Arnos Vale Cemetery is not a fully accessible site and this tour route may include some steep slopes, steps, and muddy or uneven paths. If you would like further information on accessing the site and buildings please contact . Pushchairs, wheelchair users and those with mobility issues are very welcome but as Arnos Vale Cemetery is a listed site please let us know your access needs before booking on this tour.

We have limited free parking on site, and cycle racks available. There is an accessible parking space outside each chapel. Further information can be found on our Visiting Arnos Vale page.

You can book in advance, or just turn up on the day and buy your ticket on the day from our shop in the East Lodge. However advanced booking is recommended as tour places are limited. Tickets are issued via email upon booking. No need to print them out; you can show them to a team member on your electronic device. But don’t worry we will have a list of ticket holders available so please don’t print your ticket.

We regret that we cannot exchange, refund or transfer tickets unless the event in question has been cancelled or rescheduled by Arnos Vale. If the event is cancelled you will be notified by email.
