Join us for a walk and talk about some of Bristol’s brilliant women, and then attend our fantastic talk about the Women who built Bristol by author Jane Duffus (separate ticket required).

Arnos Vale Cemetery is the place of remembrance for an estimated 150,000 women and girls from Bristol’s history and this tour aims to tell some of their stories.

The lives of women in times past often elude the historic record. But where historical evidence can be found, the lives they led and the contributions they made to society make for compelling stories. This tour helps set the historic record straight focusing on the interesting, talented, great and good women remembered here from Victorian, Edwardian and 20th century Bristol.

Warm clothing and sensible shoes are strongly recommended.

Arnos Vale Cemetery is not a fully accessible site.

This tour route may include some steep slopes, steps, and muddy or uneven paths. If you would like further information on accessing the site and buildings please enquire by email

Tickets: We regret that we cannot exchange, refund or transfer tickets unless the event in question has been cancelled or rescheduled by Arnos Vale.

Please be aware this tour is shorter than the standard Women’s tour to ensure time for the author talk.
