After visiting the annual Arnos Vale Wedding Fair, Charlotte and Mark found beauty in the unusualness of the Cemetery, they were blown away by the Victorian Architecture and the surrounding woodland. Over 1 year of planning later, they announced their vows in front of 90 of their family and friends.

Charlotte and Mark’s gorgeous Wes Anderson inspired wedding took place in the Spielman Centre and Anglican Chapel. Complete with original features, both Victorian buildings are nestled in 45 acres of woodland and surrounded by magnificent memorials filling the landscape.

Dressed in formal attire, guests were invited to join the couple for a 4pm ceremony on a sunny day in September 2018. Arriving through the impressive gates of the cemetery, their family and friends entered a secret world in the heart of Bristol.

Charlotte and Mark announced their vows in the Spielman Centre. It was a beautifully calm and private ceremony, with soft sunlight glistening through the large leaded windows. With the traditions of confetti throwing complete, Charlotte and Mark enjoyed a glass of bubbly and mouth-watering canapes created by onsite caterers Cleverchefs.

After spending time mingling with their guests the newlyweds explored the woodland with photographers Through the Woods We Ran. Lauren and Glenn captured the elegance of the day perfectly, whilst giving Charlotte and Mark time to reflect on the ceremony.

Mark runs a design and branding studio and produced of all the printed elements, from invitations, place names, the table plan to the card box- all meticulously designed to fit their theme. The wedding breakfast took place in the historic Anglican Chapel. Charlotte and Mark worked closely with Kirsty from Ruby and the Wolf to realise their stylish and luxurious vision. A blend of red and pink florals illuminated by a plethora of candles created a truly intimate dining experience.

As the sun began to set, guests enjoyed a 3 course feast lovingly created by the Cleverchef team. After dinner and speeches, entertainment was provided by 1^st Call Singing Waiters– a great surprise and a perfect way to end the meal and start the evening celebrations into the early hours!

Arnos Vale Cemetery was the first great Cemetery in the South West set up in 1839 and was designed as a beautiful Garden Cemetery where people could wander and enjoy the green space. Arnos Vale Cemetery has now been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as one of the very best in the world.
