This talk explores the outbreak of plague that swept across the world in the fourteenth century. It examines its causes, how people responded to it, and its devastating long-term impact on medieval society. Drawing on surviving historical records, the focus will be on events in England, with particular attention to Yorkshire.
About our speaker
Morticia is a Leeds based artist and historian who is interested in uncovering hidden histories and untold stories. She makes work inspired by Victorian era cemeteries, nineteenth century gothic fiction and mourning customs across the ages.
