
The historic iron gates of Arnos Vale Cemetery: a landmark of Bristol’s heritage
April 8, 2026Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust is seeking a new Trustee with legal expertise to join its Board at an exciting time of growth and strategic renewal. A historic 45-acre Victorian cemetery in Bristol, Arnos Vale is both a working burial ground and a vibrant community space focused on heritage, wellbeing, nature and events. The charity is looking for a passionate and strategic individual to provide governance support, contribute to decision-making, and offer occasional legal guidance to the CEO. Trustees play a key role in shaping the organisation’s future, ensuring strong governance and supporting its mission to serve and engage local communities.
What are we looking for?
- Your experience will ideally have been gained as a qualified lawyer (in any field, but those
with knowledge and experience in employment law, company or charity law preferred). - Good networks within the Bristol area would be advantageous. You will be knowledgeable
about the legal environment that charities operate in, including governance best practice,
and be comfortable working at Board level, contributing to discussion and enhancing
decision-making. - Ability to work at a strategic level is essential.
- We are looking for someone passionate about the work we do, who is happy to advocate for
and represent the charity to key stakeholders to help further our work and impact.
