Are you age 16 or over? Spend an afternoon with us and try something new
Saturday, 13 April at 1-4pm
Welcome! The afternoon will give you the opportunity to try out some practical outdoor activities and explore this special place.
What will spending the afternoon Rooted In Nature be like?
You'll meet some of the team here and try out some of the practical work we do. This may be things like creating habitat for the wildlife, spreading woodchip along paths, or helping to cut back overgrown vegetation. You'll have the support of our helpful team who'll be with you all afternoon.
Refreshments, biscuits and cakes will be provided. You'll be outside and will need to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, and no open toe shoes. We're a very relaxed and friendly small group of people here and there'll be plenty of opportunities to chat.
We'd love it if you'd tell us you're coming.
What's in it for me?
You'll experience and learn about how nature and wildlife thrive here, and meet some great people!
If you like what you see here and are interested in gaining new skills, you can find out about our volunteer opportunities. But, by coming to the afternoon, there's absolutely no commitment.
Oh, and don't forget the free refreshments, biscuits and cake! We'll also refund your travel expenses (eg your bus ticket to get here), so please keep hold of the receipt/ticket.
If that sounds good to you, we'd love to see you! Please tell us you're coming by booking.
What's Arnos Vale?
We're actually a cemetery! We're a charity on Bath Road, 15 minutes walk from Temple Meads station. We were saved by the communities of Bristol who now love to visit and explore. We have a cafe and a shop, and some very interesting history.
We're also a wild home to over 350 species of plants and animals including protected colonies of bat, bird and butterfly, and many wild flowers. Some parts of the cemetery are left to look quite wild, known as 'managed wilderness', because this benefits badgers, insects and nesting birds.
How do I get there?
