Bristol’s Arnos Vale is Crowdfunding with the aim of creating a new community garden at the top entrance of the cemetery, regenerating an area of wasteland for the benefit of the community.

The target of £4000 if reached will be matched by the Better Bristol campaign to create £8000 for the improvements but competition for the money is tight as a number of other charities are competing for the fund.

Arnos Vale Cemetery Chief Executive Mike Coe said “We have wanted to improve the top entrance space for a long time but have been unable to secure the required funding for the project.  The matched money from Better Bristol will help us transform the space and we will be inviting local community groups to manage areas of the garden”

Public engagement Manager, Janine Marriott added “The community garden at Arnos Vale will be a fantastic resource for local people and we already have a number of groups interested in looking after sections of the space.  However time is short and we need to reach the £4000 of funding quickly to be in with a chance of securing the funding”

Alongside the community garden Arnos Vale will also be improving the Top Lodge site which has long been in a state of disrepair alongside restoration works on the ceremonial way cloisters
